Games and Space

games-and-spaceEntertainment has always played an important role in human society. Starting with theater and books and moving on to radio and TV shows, it has always provided an escape from the mundane reality of life, at times. In several situations, it represents a window into different worlds where anything is possible, from realms of fantasy, to a journey into various planets in the universe, for us to admire. Space Games represent a means of bringing the future right into the present. While traditional entertainment has been widely successful over the course of time, it suffered from one major limitation. In the traditional idea of entertainment, the viewer is a passive element that watches the story unfold before his/her eyes but without having the ability to influence the narrative and determine the outcome. With the birth of video games the traditional paradigm of entertainment has been forever altered.

These games provides a means of engaging the ordinary individual in various different adventures based on the characteristics of whatever game he/she wants to play. Video games mean much more than merely narrating a story, but takes the participant directly into its narrative, without worrying whether the dynamics of the game is good or bad or otherwise questioning the morality implied in them, and helps the gamer determine the final outcome. The role of games is to provide the participant with a unique experience based on his/her motivations. It puts the player in situations which are sometimes extreme, sometimes unforeseen, or situations that the participant had never encountered before. The setting of video games is just as appealing, as the elements of the game play themselves. As it appeals to the more childlike desires that most individuals had at some point in their lives. It can be the ability to travel between the stars, or fight some dangerous monsters or mythical creatures. This probably fulfill some desires that are deep rooted, like feeling special and unique.
